British Gas is a subsidiary of Centrica. Whereas British Gas is a trading name for several entities. We’ve listed each of them below.

For energy

British Gas Trading Limited, registered in England and Wales No. 03078711. It is a mandatory FIT Licensee and an appointed representative of British Gas Services Limited

For home services

British Gas Insurance Limited, underwrite our HomeCare insurance products. It is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority under Financial Services Register number 490565. Registered England and Wales No. 06608316.

British Gas Services Limited, administrate most of our insurance products and provide many of our non-insurance products. It is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under Financial Services Register No: 490568. Registered in England and Wales No. 03141243.

Our home insurance products are underwritten by a carefully selected insurer. Your policy documents will show you who your insurer is.

Compensation Arrangements

British Gas Services Limited and British Gas Insurance Limited are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. General insurance is covered for 90% of the claim, without any upper limit.
