The birthplace of Ideal Heating

Hull. 1906. The birthplace of Ideal Heating, though back then it was known as the National Radiator Company. Over the years, there were some impressive milestones as the company focused on new boilers, new technology and in the 1920s, they revolutionised stoves with the creation of CookanHeat (say it out loud!), by combining open fire, central heating boiler, cooking oven and hot cupboard in one unit.

Two royal visits, a new name in 1953 – Ideal Standard – and the launch of the Concord boiler in 1970 saw Ideal become one of the bigwigs in the boiler industry. And the milestones kept coming, with the release of the Ideal Classic Combi 89 boiler in 1991, the Ideal Logic boiler range in 2009 and even another royal visit a few years later. This has made many people across the country favour Ideal boilers and the company continues to grow.

Did you now? Ideal still operates from its manufacturing plant and offices in Hull. And has done since 1906!

Which Ideal boiler is right for me?

Whether you’re looking for a combination boiler, system boiler or conventional boiler – or you don’t even know where to start – Ideal will help every step of the way (of course, so will we!). Fit for any size home, there’s a wide range of Ideal boilers available to you.

Finding your Ideal combi boiler

Combination boilers are great for smaller properties, those with perhaps just one or two bathrooms. Ideal combi boilers are compact, can fit into most spaces (so you won’t have to worry about clogging up your airing cupboard) and there’s no need for a storage tank. Having a combi boiler isn’t all about saving space though, the massive benefit is that as soon as you turn on the hot water tap, it comes out hot. No need to put the hot water on and wait – you just heat the water you use. Ideal has a range of Logic combi boilers which are perfect for new boilers or replacements.

No loft space? No problem with Ideal system boilers

Bigger than a combi boiler, Ideal system boilers are better suited for homes with multiple bathrooms and a higher demand for hot water. All they require extra is a cylinder to store the hot water – if you’ve ever wondered what that big spaceship-looking thing is in the cupboard upstairs, that’s the hot water tank! An Ideal system boiler will help heat up your home and meet your hot water needs. And if you’re getting an award-winning Ideal Logic boiler that has the Quiet Mark accreditation, you’ll get the heat you need without the loud sound.

Ideal conventional boilers for bigger homes

Ideal calls these types of boilers as ‘heat only’, but you may be more familiar with the terms, ‘regular boilers’ or ‘conventional boilers’. Whatever you like to call them, if you’ve got a larger property and a house full of people all wanting hot water at the same time, then an Ideal conventional boiler is for you. If you’ve already got a hot water tank and a cold water storage cylinder in your loft, then you likely already have a conventional boiler, so you can easily get an Ideal replacement.
