Is business gas cheaper than domestic gas?
Business gas may be cheaper than domestic gas, depending on your business size and usage. VAT rates for business gas are typically higher than for domestic customers, but unlike domestic gas, business gas prices are calculated differently and can be either fixed or variable.

Are business gas rates cheaper than domestic?
A: Business gas rates are based on your business size and gas consumption. They may be cheaper than domestic rates because of the amount of gas used, but most business customers pay a higher rate of VAT - typically 20% instead of 5% for domestic gas. Businesses also pay the Climate Change Levy (CCL), which is calculated per kilowatt hour of usage and changes over time. Find the rates here.
Do I need to pay for an upgrade to a business smart meter?
A: We install business smart meters at no extra cost. This does not include new connections. And there may be a charge if you're a non-micro business and you opted to exchange an AMR meter for a SMETS2 meter.
