What do I need to get a business energy quote?
You'll find the information you need to get a quote on your bill:
- Your supply type (gas, electricity or both)
- How much energy your business uses in kWh (kilowatt hours) or pounds
- When your contract ends
Don't worry, if you don't have a bill to hand then you can still get a business energy quote, but your quote might not be as accurate.
Can I get a business energy quote for charities or not-for-profit energy?
We'll quote you on the standard VAT rate of 20%. Charities and not-for-profit organisations are eligible for a reduced rate of VAT at 5% on energy supplied by us. To apply for the reduced VAT rate, log into your online account. And, if you qualify for a reduced rate of VAT on business energy, you won't need to pay the Climate Change Levy either.
How long is my business energy quote valid for?
Your quote will be valid for that session only.
What are the different business energy quote options?
We can offer business customers a range of fixed rate plans over one, two, or three years. If you don't want a Fixed Rate Energy Plan you can choose our 30 day Rolling Energy Plan. With our 30 day Rolling Energy Plan your unit rate and standing charge could go up or down but you're free to move to a Fixed Rate Energy Plan at any time. If you've got a half-hourly meter then we can offer an energy deal that works around how and when your business uses electricity. We are required to share the maximum unit rates and standing charges for our electricity and gas contracts by OFGEM.
This maximum pricing is only for our micro business customers who are entering a new contract.

100% Renewable Electricity: Every unit of electricity British Gas supply to you during your contract will be matched to electricity from a natural renewable energy source and we will hold the necessary number of Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) as evidence of this supply. British Gas will use reasonable endeavours to purchase enough REGOs to match 100% of the electricity you use on this tariff. However, failure to do so will not constitute a breach of contract by British Gas or give rise to you having the right to terminate the supply contract. In the event something changes, and British Gas can no longer guarantee a renewable supply we will write and let you know. Excludes the British Gas Lite product.
